Burgundy prives a rich selection of some the finest wines of France many with price tags to match. Our Burgundy on a budget case aims to introduce a set of 3 reds & 3 whites that we feel represent both excellent value and an introduction to this sacred terroir.

Dom. Fichet Pinot Noir - light to medium bodied with red cherries and strawberries with a slight savoury aspect. Very good starting point for those unfamiliar with Burgundy or for those who know Burgundy and enjoy decent wine at a decent price. A beautifully fresh, light red which works well with game terrine or with pasta dishes.

Dom. Fichet Bourgogne Blanc - A light, fruity Chardonnay in the Burgundian style with a perfect balance of concentration, acidity and minerality. Refreshing and distinctly quaffable.

Guilhem & Jean-Hugues Goisot Bourgogne Aligote - Value is an understatement at this world class domaine. This Bourgogne Aligoté is showing wonderful aromatic expressions of tree fruit like pears, citrus, and hawthorn, with a finish reminding hazelnuts. Fruity notes on a background of minerality, white flowers, and spices, with a slightly nutty finish.

Guilhem & Jean-Hugues Goisot Corps de Garde - The nose is full of forest fruits, spices, licorice and roasted aromas. the mouth expresses a fullness and elegance underlined by fine tannins with liquorice and jammy notes.

Dom. Jaeger-Defaix Rully - Beautiful bright ruby-red colour. Aromas of raspberry, red currant and blackberry. Pretty and refined on the nose.On the palate, there is an abundance of red fruit and a touch of spice. The tannin structure is silky, creating an elegant Pinot Noir that is supple and fresh.

Dom. Chavet St Veran - Situated in Davayé, at the foot of the rock of Solutré, the Chavet family have 12 hectares under vine. The current custodian, Christophe, is the sixth generation of Chavets to manage the Domaine. The vines, which average around 30 years old, are planted on stoney, clay-limestone soils facing south-east to south-west. The resulting wine is fine, crisp, clean, and soft with fresh minerally. A great introduction to white Burgundy, or, for the already converted, a lovely, affordable treat.
