Founded in 1930 by Gaston Hochar, Chateau Musar must surely be the most iconic winery in Lebanon. ‘The Lafite of Lebanon’ is no mean feat given the historical significance of the Beka’a Valley where vines have been cultivated for over 6,000 years – The ancient Phoenicians led the way distributing both theirs wines and wine making knowledge across the ancient Mediterranean. Such was their impact on the ancient world that the Romans erected their only serious temple to Bacchus (god of wine) in the Beka’a Valley. Today Ronald Hochar heads the company which remains very much a family concern and continues to honour the organic, non-interventionist approach adopted by Gaston from the very beginning.
We are delighted to be joined by Elliot O’Mara of Chateau Musar who will guide guests through a selection of musar wines paired with a seasonal game Menu prepared especially for the evening by BBS Bath chef James Harris.
