“Clos Village” is a 1.5 hectare vineyard, in the heart of old Gevrey, below Clos St Jacques, of mainly 70-75-year-old vines but with some planted as early as 1920. The wine is darkly powerful and a little more refined immediately than the “En Champs”. The tannins, however, are something else, and I would suggest that this the primary candidate for long cellaring of our Gevrey Chambertin picks this year.
